The word "Namaste" is derived from the Sanskrit word: "NAMA: ASTU" which literally means "You are Welcome". In the Hindu custom it is a tradition to welcome visitor and guests which clapped hands and bowed heads saying "Namaste". This custom is prevalent all over Nepal.
