Surface entries are allowed only from Kakarvitta, Jhapa (Eastern Nepal), Birganj, Parsa (Central Nepal), Belahia, Bhairahawa (Rupandehi, Western Nepal), Jamunaha, Nepalgunj (Banke, Mid Western Nepal), Mohana, Dhangadhi (Kailali, Far Western Nepal), Gaddachauki, and Mahendranagar (Kanchanpur, Far Western Nepal) and Kodari, Sindhupalchowk (Northern Border) over Tibet.

Population: Nepal has appx 27 million (July 2006 est.) people composed of a variety of races and tribes, speaking different languages and dialects.
Language: Nepali (official; spoken by 90% of the population), about a dozen other languages and about 30 major dialects; Many in government and business also speak English (1995).
Visas: Visas for citizens of most countries are available on arrival at the land borders and at the airport in Kathmandu at a cost of US$25 for 15 days, US$40 for 30 days and US$100 for 90 days multiple entry visa. Tourist visa can be granted for a maximum of 150 days in a visa year. You can pay this in Nepali Rupees, US dollars or Indian rupees. The Nepali Rupee is tied to the Indian Rupee at a rate of 1.6. Note 500 Indian Rupee notes are not accepted. To obtain a visa, you need to bring one passport photo.
